Not only is Zion one of the USA's most popular parks, it is also the closest to Las Vegas! Zion presents a glorious mix of towering canyons, sheer cliffs, unique rock formations and a wild assortment of plant life. You will be away from Las Vegas for about 10 1/2 hours, with about 4 1/2 hours inside Zion, where there is the option of going horseback riding! This is a small group tour, with up to 14 guests.  If you also want to see Bryce Canyon in addition to Zion, we have another day tour that goes to both parks. 

After leaving Las Vegas you will head north up Interstate 15, through the Virgin River Gorge, where there will be a photo stop, before reaching St. George, in Utah. Once we get to Zion, there will be so much to see and do!  We will enter the park through the south entrance at Springdale and you will immediately see the gigantic Navajo sandstone rock faces every where you look. The Virgin River is close by and with it, abundant plant life. In no time you will be outside the vehicle, walking around, enjoying the views, and taking photographs. Amongst the highlights in this part of the park is the Great Arch of Zion.

Not too far from the Great Arch of Zion is an amazing tunnel that was blasted through the Navajo sandstone in the 1920's. You will see the windows (below left) that were cut into the rock, before driving through the tunnel. Emerging on the other side you will notice how the landscape has dramatically changed. Massive sand dunes that have solidified into rocks are everywhere, etched with dramatic patterns. trees are growing into the rocks, drawing nourishment from the water that is located inside the porous sandstone. There are once again frequent stops to admire the never ending vistas. A sack lunch is provided today, and you can enjoy it sitting amongst Zion's splendor. 

We will also tour Zion Canyon, but during the summer months the upper canyon is closed to everything except National Park Service shuttles. During this time we will park our vehicle and hop on one of the shuttles to explore the canyon. Those who want to can also take an optional one hour horseback ride in this part of the park. If you do not go horseback riding you will explore some more of Zion Canyon. Amongst the sites are the Narrows, the Three Patriarchs, Angels Landing, and the Great White Throne.

Depending on the make up of the group we may take an optional, easy walk along one of Zion's famous trails. There is so much more to be seen once you get off the main roads, and it is much less crowded. If you do want to take a walk, please bring a pair of appropriate shoes with you, with ankle supports.
